Stud Service and Fees

Live Side-by-Side Insemination

We are pleased to offer live side-by-side insemination performed by a licensed veterinarian. This option is subject to timing, veterinarian availability, and scheduling. The Dam Owner is responsible for all veterinary costs associated with the process, including pre-breeding exams, semen collection, evaluation, insemination, and any follow-up care.

This method allows for direct, in-person insemination, offering enhanced timing accuracy and a greater likelihood of success.

  • Stud Fee: $2,000, payable in full prior to meeting for collection.

  • Additional Costs: All veterinarian expenses, including pre-breeding checks, collection, evaluation, insemination, and any follow-up services, are the responsibility of the Dam Owner.

  • Travel Fees: $1 per mile round trip if located more than 50 miles away.

Fresh Chilled Semen Shipping

We also offer the convenience of fresh chilled semen shipping to breeders nationwide. Our semen is collected and shipped with the utmost care to preserve viability and ensure timely delivery to you or your veterinarian.

  • Stud Fee: $2,000 payable in full prior to collection and shipment.

  • Collection and Shipping Fee: $300 per shipment. This fee includes collection, evaluation, processing, and overnight shipping. Additional shipments for the same estrus cycle can be arranged at $300 per shipment (e.g., if a second insemination is desired on another day, an additional $300 fee applies). We accommodate up to three collections per stud service.

  • Refundable Deposit: A $200 deposit is required per shipment to cover reusable shipping materials (box, cooler, ice packs, Shipmate canister, etc.). This deposit will be refunded upon the return of materials in good condition within 5 business days. A prepaid return label is provided for your convenience.

  • No, we do not offer live cover.

    At Arrowhead Dobermans, we prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of both our studs and the dams they breed. Live cover carries inherent risks that can be avoided with artificial insemination. These risks include:

    • Physical Injury: Live cover can result in accidental injuries to either dog, especially if one is inexperienced or uncooperative.

    • Disease Transmission: Live cover increases the risk of transmitting infections or diseases, even with rigorous health screening.

    • Stress and Anxiety: Transporting the dam to our location and the process of live cover can be stressful for both dogs. Artificial insemination offers a controlled and low-stress alternative.

    • Efficiency and Predictability: Artificial insemination ensures precise timing and allows for the collection and examination of semen quality, improving the chances of conception.

    By exclusively offering Live Side-by-Side and fresh chilled semen shipping, we maintain a safe, hygienic, and effective breeding process for all parties involved.

  • Semen is collected, evaluated, and carefully packaged with specialized equipment to ensure viability during transit. The shipment is sent overnight for timely insemination.

  • It's important to time the shipment of semen based on the dam's ovulation cycle. We recommend working with your veterinarian to monitor the dam’s progesterone levels to determine the best time for insemination. We can coordinate with your vet to ensure the timing is ideal for a successful breeding. Typically, semen samples are scheduled to ship over night the day before insemination is required. Your vet will likely want to inseminate either the 2nd or 3rd day post ovulation.

  • If your breeding plan requires multiple shipments, an additional $300 shipping fee and a $200 deposit per shipment will be charged. This ensures the return of all materials for each shipment. Alternatively, we can split the initial sample into multiple vials. You would inseminate one via the day it is received, and the second vial the day after it is received.

  • A repeat breeding may be offered under specific conditions if a live litter is not produced. Please refer to our agreement for details, as certain terms and limitations apply.
